Family Constitution

[edit source]

Per Laborem Ad Astra (Through hard work, to the stars)

This Constitution records the enduring principles, values, and shared responsibilities of the Els family.

It exists to provide clarity, continuity, and shared understanding across generations.

It distinguishes between:

  • foundational principles that guide the family across time, and
  • governance structures that implement those principles in practice.

Operational mechanisms are described in the relevant Trust and Governance sections of this system.

Foundational Narratives

[edit source]

The Els family uses symbolic narratives to communicate responsibility, balance, and long-term stewardship across generations.

These narratives are not rigid roles or fixed expectations. They are reflective tools designed to guide conversation, growth, and shared understanding.

The narratives are maintained separately for clarity and development:

Foundational Principles

[edit source]

The following principles are considered enduring within the Els family system:

  • Responsibility precedes authority.
  • Prosperity arises from care, stewardship, and restraint.
  • Individual freedom exists within shared responsibility.
  • Systems are maintained to protect people, not the other way around.
  • Stability enables continuity; continuity enables growth.

These principles guide interpretation of all governance structures and decisions.

Principles of Responsible Decision-Making

[edit source]

Decision-making within the Els family is guided by the principle that responsibility precedes authority.

Authority exists to serve stability, care, and continuity rather than individual preference.

Operational decision-making frameworks are described in the Governance section of this system.
